Brighton Trip

On the 20th of september we visited brighton for the day and looked at the brighton art fair which included various bits of art which included sculptures, paintings etc. Another big part of brighton i liked was the street art which again included a wide range of styles starting from big colourful pieces to small stencils. I really liked the atmosphere that Brighton had along with music scene down their which was nice to see. The images below are some of the pictures i took of the art and the street art in brighton.

These are some of the pieces i liked at the Brighton art fair

Brick lane

Apart from visiting the D&AD we also looked at the graffiti in Brick Lane. Their was various pieces done by different artists such as Banksy, Roa, Space Invader and more. I took various photos of my favourite pieces one being a large painting of a bird on the side of a building which was done by one of my favourite street artists called ROA. The reason i like the piece is because the style is abnormal and i like the way he has used strokes to show various parts of the bird. I also like the way he only uses black and white in this piece which again i feel adds to the effectiveness of the piece.
D&AD  New Blood Exhibition

On the 4th of july we visited the D&AD new Blood Exhibition in Brick Lane. The exhibition was situated in Spitalfields market and consisted of various sections dedicated to different universities along with a showcase of the students work. Visiting the exhibition was good in the sense that it allowed me to get a basic understanding of the sort of work that goes on in the universities and also showed me the different genres that are available to study which would help in making my decision on what course i want to take. I am interested in illustration and at the exhibition their was a large amount of examples of work along with the illustrations done by the students also the uni they are from, this again helped get a understanding of what universities i could potentially be interested in. Their was also a lot of stuff you could take for free such as books, cards etc which again was nice.
